It doesn’t take much to inspire a smoothie around here. A few days of good weather, and we’re eating them every day. I pack them for lunches in water bottles or make them for after-school snacks. Just about any frozen fruit, combined with a banana, yogurt and milk makes a delicious smoothie, but lately we’ve been hooked on banana berry smoothies. Think dark chocolate and cherries. Yum.
BERRY ALMOND SMOOTHIE
1 cup frozen mixed berries or just frozen cherries
1/2 cup plain or vanilla yogurt (if you use vanilla, don’t add any extra sweetener)
1/2 cup milk
1T wheat germ (optional)
2T cocoa powder
2T almond butter
1t agave or honey
Blend all ingredients in blender until fully combined. For lunches, freeze it in a water bottle overnight and add it to the lunch in the morning.
