I can’t be sure if it’s the extra calories or just the reassurance of them, but somehow eating before a sunrise fast helps me get through the day. For these shorter fasts, I always prepare a power smoothie for my husband and me the night before. We wake up before sunrise, guzzle it down and go back to bed.
Easy fast to all!
1/2 cup strawberries (if frozen, be sure to add these first and use the “ice breaker” setting on the the blender)
1 over ripe banana
1/2 cup blueberries
1/2 cup plain or flavored yogurt
cup of milk
T peanut butter (optional but delicious!)
T protein powder (optional)
2T whole grain oats
T wheatgerm (optional, but this is what I find makes it more filling)
Blend it all together and chug.
For coffee fiends, leave out the blueberries, strawberries and peanut butter and instead add T instant coffee and cocoa powder.
